FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I purchase a pot from Xí Xoọng Ceramics? *Does not apply to April 2024 shop drop*

*Because I am running a small business on my own for the first time, I will be piloting this process for the foreseeable future!

  1. I will upload pots for sale to this website as they become available. I will do my best to update via Instagram when there are new pots that have been added and when pots have been sold!

  2. Email me (clairenguyenceramics@gmail.com) or DM me on Instagram (@clairenguyenceramics) to place your order when you are ready. I will confirm with you if the pot(s) you’d like to purchase are still available and pricing based on the sliding scale.

  3. After fulfilling your payment, I will arrange pick-up or shipping for your order!

Can I place a custom order?

I open availability for custom orders on occasion, and this will be the primary time during which I will accept several custom orders! However, if you have a special project in mind, don’t hesitate to reach out! Follow me on Instagram or subscribe to my newsletter for the latest updates.

Are your pots food safe?

Yes! All pots are food safe, microwave safe, and dishwasher safe - though with handmade pots, I recommend hand washing them to preserve them long term. Handmade ceramics, when taken care of, can last centuries. That’s not to say that you need to be extra gentle with them; they are quite sturdy.

What is sliding scale? How do I know how much I should pay for a pot if you are offering sliding scale pricing?

Sliding scale is a system for payment where I propose a range of prices I will accept for each pot. This system is a more equitable because it considers how a person’s identities, income, and circumstances inform their ability to purchase handmade ceramics. My sliding scale system is based on trust, as I cannot tell each individual how much they should or should not pay for my pots. However, my intention to offer sliding scale payments is to ensure that anyone can purchase and enjoy my pottery. I do not want to exorbitantly profit off of my craft, especially from folks who would struggle to pay full price. If you’re not sure where you’d fall on the sliding scale, take the anonymous quiz at the bottom of this page!

Can my pot be shipped?

If you are based in the Philadelphia area, pick up is mandatory. If you are outside the Philadelphia area, I am happy to ship to you! I calculate shipping based on weight and the location of where the package is being shipped. This will range from $5 to $15, depending on your order.

My pieces look different from what I saw online.

With handmade ceramics, I cannot guarantee that every pot will be identical to the next. This is part of the beauty of handmade pottery, where there will always be variations between each item, even if they have the same design. This is due to how I make each pot and the different things that can happen throughout the process that would affect how the pots turn out. I will never sell something that I am not happy with or would not be safe to use, so each piece will be your own original even if it has any irregularities!

My pot arrived broken in the mail, what should I do?

Please use the contact form to let me know, and I will issue you a full refund! I run this business on my own, so I will do my due diligence that every pot is packed securely and arrives to your home safely.
